E340, S340 and S380 All having issues

I was going to let you know that I have some issues with Eufy products.

I was using Video Doorbell S330, I tried to connect it with AC charger but it did not work. I wrote to your staff so many times explaining the problem but I have negative answers. there were no suggestions and Eufy insisted me that it was out of warranty period.

I spoke with a guy called Michael who said, he was going to sort out the problem but he refused to continue because it was out of warranty period.

I later checked on Youtube and there was a later model Video Doorbell E340. I decided to buy this model because it was a later model stated on your site. I tried to install the current transformer and it stated “doesn’t match your doorbell, changed your transformer to one with 16-24V, 30 VA, Feel free to contact us if you have any question.” (WHERE CAN I BUY ONE transformer CHARGER FROM EUFY?) How can I get E340 wiring connected?
After installing with battery I have the front view camera having wavy screen. (see attached footage). I had no problem with wavy screen on my old video doorbell S330. (please explain)

I also bought a SoloCam S340 and Homebase 3 S380.

The two devices E340 and S340 are connected to the Homebase 3 but I could not safe any long files to my HB3 because it stated that I am not wired connected.

Finally, the Solocam S340 cannot be connected to Amazon Alexa. (Any computer science PHD Eufy Engineer to help me with all these problems?

I believe eufy doesn’t actually sell any transformers.
You can purchase one from a home center or
Amazøn.

Just purchase the proper output voltage and VA.

Dear JD164,

These are not the plugin chargers. I need to hire an electrician and waste 500 GBP. Brilliant idea.

Dominic

Why don’t you just do a simple search in Google for plug in 24v transformers?
My E340 is wired up with a plug in (which I Googled to find)
Amazon has plenty, eBay has plenty. It’s really not that difficult. To save you the effort I did it for you:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=plug+in+24v+doorbell+transformer&crid=3C21QCA2J3P6L&sprefix=plug+in+24v+doorbell+transformer%2Caps%2C153&ref=nb_sb_noss

I went a little further and selected the one that powers my E340 without issue:

Dear Rattler,
I have used this but it didn’t work. (attached) or get Eufy to recoomend it on Eufy site.
Don’t give me hearsay evidence, test it and show me the result. You are there to support.
regards,
Dominic

See the thing is, I don’t need to test and show anyone any evidence. Mine works, if you’re unhappy with the product and it’s still under warranty then send it back, people here are customers and users, no one here is here to support unless they choose to do so, I chose to offer my insight as I know it works. You obviously disagree which makes absolutely no difference to me, oh and Amazon Alexa support is not great, I have all my Eufy cameras both E340, S340 and 3c’s connected to Alexa, I can view live stream but that’s about it which doesn’t bother me as the Eufy app is perfectly ok to do all I need.

Rattle,
AS i have mentioned before, I have tested it and it did not work for me. YOU ARE THERE TO HELP CUSTOMER AND NOT CHALLENGING THEM.
Ask Eufy to sell these chargers on their site to make sure it works properly.
You are the engineer, you have the job to help your customer but you said, “
if you’re unhappy with the product and it’s still under warranty then send it back”
Why not you send me a new one tested with the charger cable and send me both.

Dominic

You clearly have the wrong assumption here, I do NOT work or have any association with Eufy, I am a customer just like you.

Why don’t you go have a SHOUT at Eufy customer services as it’s their job not mine. So to be clear.

  1. I don’t work for Eufy
  2. I am NOT a Eufy engineer
  3. See points 1 and 2
  4. Your attitude stinks, calm down and contact the correct people with your complaint.

This is a customer forum and no one has to help anyone

Dear Rattler,
I am sorry because I thought you were the expert they ent to me. I was messed by their staff.
Read what i wrote to them…Underlined were my reply.

  1. I regret to inform you that our warranty period is 12 months, and we are unable to offer a free replacement for products that are no longer under warranty. Your understanding is greatly appreciated. I understand the 12 months warranty period but when i bought the product, it stated that i could use the wire connection. I believe this is manufactural fault.

After numerous emails I was told by your staff that the wire connection will only kick in after the battery is lesser than 80% when wired. This does not seem to be the case after reading so many feedbacks from Eufy site. One person stated that he was sent a new Eufy doorbell and the problem solved. That was why I bought the E340 hoping that it will solve the wiring problem.

  1. Regarding the issue with your new E340 doorbell:

2.1 You can purchase a compatible power adapter using the following link [https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07P4N3H1F/], I bought this product but it didn’t work (image attach) This should help resolve any power-related issues.

2.2 The wavy screen issue you’re experiencing is likely due to interference from the overhead fluorescent lights in the doorbell’s current installation location**.** I recommend turning off the overhead lights to see if the screen returns to normal. If it does, we advise installing the doorbell outside where it will not be affected by this interference. If this is true, then Eufy should update their software to cope with light or maybe send a free ND filter for the lens

  1. In reference to your concern about the E340 and S340 devices connected to the Homebase 3 and the difficulty in saving long files due to a lack of a wired connection:

3.1 If you’re looking to enable pre-recording on the E340 doorbell, it is supported with certain conditions:

  • The T8214 camera must be connected to a wired power supply (not in battery mode).

  • The transformer should be rated at 16-24V and 10VA or higher.

  • The existing doorbell chime must be bypassed, and the chime option should be disabled in the app settings.

  • Enable the pre-recording feature by navigating to app>doorbell settings>general>storage.

3.2 If you wish to record longer videos, you can customize the recording length by going to app>camera settings page>power manager>choose customized recording.

  1. As for the Alexa integration issue with the Solocam S340, another specialist will follow up with you through a separate ticket to provide dedicated support. (I will wait for your expert to call me).

Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience. If you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Will not buy another Eufy product….mostly bull. Go for another brand. Customer services and Software crappy.

Initially, I faced difficulties when attempting to connect the S330 spin the wheel game to an AC charger, but despite reaching out to Eufy’s staff multiple times for assistance, I received unsatisfactory responses, with Eufy insisting that the device was out of warranty. Disappointed by the lack of support, I decided to upgrade to the newer E340 model, only to encounter further challenges.

I have an E340 doorbell connected to pre-existing 24V AC doorbell wiring, with mechanical chime in the loop, and it’s working perfectly including pre-recording and extended (120s) recordings. An Arlo wired doorbell also worked fine in its place in the past. I measure 20V AC at the doorbell wires.

Many doorbell transformers are rated 30VA or even 40VA. This is significantly higher than the 10VA recommendation for the simple wall adapter. Granted, a lot of that extra power in a typical transform is probably just for the mechanical chime, but for those looking to get a wired E340 working it may be worth trying to use a beefier transformer.
