So I bought the video-doorbell 2k assuming the box came with the chime but was surprised to see that it was actually the base. Installed doorbell as a wired option and was glad it worked with my existing chime. I also bought the two camera kit which also came with a base. Do I need an extra base or I actually just needed to add cameras or other add ons?

The 2k battery doorbell needs Homebase 2. You can also add Eufy Cam 2 or 2c to the same base. You don’t need a second Homebase 2.

You can save your second base for future. if any of your cameras unable to connect properly to the base due to obstacles or distance between the homebase and cam, then you can move your spare homebase to a location where you can get both internet signal and connect to the cameras.
Eufy has add-on battery doorbell you can purchase at lower price if you had a homebase.
