Will the doorbell connect to a network that the SSID is not being broadcasted?

In the past I did not broadcast my SSID of my network, just so I am not showing anyone and everyone my wifi network. Yes I know some people are still able to find it, but it will be fewer than if if I was broadcasting it. Anyways my question is if the doorbell will connect to my wifi network if the SSID is not being broadcasted. I was recently broadcasting my SSID due to setting other devices up on the network. I then turned off the broadcasting and didn’t think about it but I realized that I was not getting notified by the doorbell. I looked at the doorbell and it had power but when I looked at the doorbell via the App, it showed offline/not connected. I then decided to broadcast the SSID again and the doorbell came online. Like other devices, I wish there was an option in the settings to connect to a network even if the SSID is not being broadcasted. The device I have is the eufy Security Video Doorbell.

Nothing connects to your WiFi, they conect to the home, so as long as your home is connected to your Internet, it won’t make a blind bit of difference :man_shrugging:

I have the eufy Security Video Doorbell which does connect to my wireless network. Sorry I didn’t identify my product in the original post.

That’s an interesting question. I’ve seen other devices not stay on hidden SSIDs but it’s been a while. I’d say you’re better off keeping it broadcast and just beef up the credentials, or hardwire the base.

Thanks for your message.

Yes, the doorbell can support connecting to an SSID network, but that isn’t the question. The question is why won’t it connect when SSID broadcast is hidden. I have been trying to setup video doorbell 2K with Homebase 2, also, and I am finding Homebase 2 will NOT connect when SSID is hidden. If you unhide SSID, it will connect, but if you hide the SSID after doing that, it will disconnect again. I also find that Homebase 2 also does not certain characters in wifi password.
