I purchased the S330 Video Doorbell Smart Lock all in one a few months ago and have had consistent problems with video recordings since the beginning.
At first I didn’t have an SD card to put into the bridge so that it could record locally. However, in order to be able to have access to more than the one chime and for it to send notifications with movement or the screenshots etc it requires you to install one.
I went ahead and subscribed to the cloud backup storage feature for the meantime until I got an SD card. At first it wouldn’t record anything, no motion clips whatsoever. Then after doing some online research I realized that’s because you can’t do 2K recordings even though it lets you select it for video quality, when you use just cloud storage.
After putting it to full HD it would more often than not record only some events with motion even with the highest settings for all motion set but not nearly all events would be recorded.
I went ahead and got a very good micro SD card and installed it along with formatting it through the app. That’s when a lot of the big real problems started happening. So while it would record events locally as well now, I think it happened even less often now with people coming in and out of the door than before with just Cloud storage.
When it does record and I go into my events tab on the app and try to view an event that now shows captured by AI underneath the clip, it will never actually show the event that I pick. instead it’ll always default to usually the first clip of the day that it detected motion by human or something like that but not the actual timed clip I’m clicking on ever.
So say the first clip or event that day it recorded with a person was at say 3:00 a.m. and there were maybe four events after that with motion all the way till noon. If I try to view the noon one it’ll end up showing that very first one of the day at 3:00 a.m. If I try to view any of the other ones it’ll end up opening only that 3:00 a.m. one in it’s place.
Of course that’s only the ones it decides to record when I’m constantly getting notifications that door unlocked by x person or code etc but almost never any video of them walking up or unlocking it. I also have it set to show and notify when people are leaving through the app which NEVER works.
So I called and talked to Eufy customer support and they ended up telling me that even though it’s called cloud backup that the camera is not meant to be able to do both at the same time. Also, since my problem started when I installed an SD card, I should just go ahead and pick either cloud storage or SD card.
I explained that can’t be the case because only certain features work when you install an SD card such as the multiple doorbell chimes and the previews in the push notifications. also if I didn’t have cloud backup and someone broke in or something they could just take the SD card which is why cloud backup was important. They said that I would just have to pick whichever features were most important to me.
I have had the same issue on multiple devices, uninstalled reinstalled apps, factory reset the doorbell and chime bridge etc. I have tried different brand SD cards with the specs indicated, all are functional and do have events on them. I have tried different sensitivity levels and other settings as well along with different power management settings. I find it hard to believe that you can’t do cloud backup at the same time as an SD card on a device like their flagship video doorbell smart lock.
