I bought a eufycam 3 S330 ; but it seems mandatory to connect it to Homebase ; it’s a solar cam, so I want to install it outdoor… a bit far from hombase… I have a wifi access point outdoor ; but I didnt find how to connect the S330 to that wifi (there is not “wifi menu” in this cam, while I find it for example for E340 cam or S350).
Hi, unfortunately the eufycam 3 can only connect to the HomeBase3 and not use your homes Wi-Fi.
Eufy states the camera can be at a distance of 30 ft / 9 meters from HomeBase3 but obstructions will lower that.
Found this information:
Does the eufyCam 3/3C has to be used with the HomeBase?
Yes, eufyCam must be used with HomeBase. EufyCam relies on proprietary power-saving Wi-Fi and low-frequency wireless protocols for communication in order to reduce power consumption and establish a secure connection, so connecting eufyCam to regular Wi-Fi networks is not possible.
So if the camera is too far or you get a week wi-fi display on the app, consider moving the HomeBase3 closer to the camera.
I check again ; on french website, I didn’t find where it is mentionned that the S300 can only be used with homebase !! The only information about connectivity is “Connectivité Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n - 2,4 GHz”
That is a real scam… especially for outdoor camera, it should be the first information mentionned !!
Not your fault of course, but i’m a bit irritated ; I bought a 249€ camera for nothing !
I have 6 S300 cameras and I live in the mountains on large acreage. My base is in the house and two cameras are between 20-25 feet away, three other cameras are between 30-50 feet away, two of which are high up in trees, and all 5 show full wifi connection (on the wifi icon) and I have one cam that is approximately 300 feet from my house and it has a solid wifi connection showing 3 out of the 4 bars on the wifi icon. I can live view the cameras without any issue and they record everything 24/7. My internet is cellular based, as we live far out in the mountains of california, and is pretty slow in comparison to anyone in a city.
I have found that my eufy homebase s380 has a stronger signal than my tp-link wifi6 router that has 6 large antennas.
I would suggest placing your base station in a good spot and not have it behind anything that can stop its signal, like a metal cabinet or having down in the basement etc etc.
